Town of the Week, 8th March 2012: Winslow
With its bustling Market Square and High Street, Winslow combines old world charm with unique attractions. Recognised by King Offa of Mercia as Wineshauue (“Wine’s Mound”) in 792 and by the Domesday Book as Weneslai in 1086, the town is surrounded by famous sites and National Trust properties.

Action for Market Towns has launched its 2012 Action for Market Towns National Awards with a challenge to towns and villages to be “bold, proud, and loud” about what they have achieved.
