AMT joins Twitter as TownsAlive
By Katie Fewings • Jul 15th, 2010 • Category: NewsAMT is now tweeting! Follow us at www.twitter.com/townsalive
We will be tweeting about:
- upcoming events
- funding opportunities
- special offers and discounts on our services
- market town news and debate
and much more (but probably not what we had for breakfast).
If you’re new to Twitter it’s easy to join in the fun. Just go to www.twitter.com and click on the big yellow button in the right hand column that says ‘Sign up’.
You’ll be asked to give
- your name
- a username (this could be your first name, your company name or a name dreamed up by you) for your account so your Twitter address will be www.twitter.com/username
- your email address (this won’t be made public)
Click on ‘Create your account’.
Then you’re pretty much done. You’ll be taken to your shiny new Twitter account and at the top of a page you’ll see a big box asking you ‘What’s happening?’.
Just type in whatever you want to share (but no more than 140 characters – that’s the tricky bit!) and click ‘Tweet’.
If you have a link to share and it’s too long, you can go to www.tinyurl.com, paste in your link and they’ll give you a much shorter one that you can use in your tweet.
How to follow AMT at TownsAlive
To find us, go to the menu at the top of the page and click on ‘Find People’. Type ‘TownsAlive’ into the box and click on us when we come up.
This will take you to our page. Just click on the box that says ‘Follow’ under our name and then whenever you visit Twitter you’ll be able to see our updates (or ‘tweets’, sorry, must get it right!).
If you’re still stumped, head over to Twitter’s help page.
Happy tweeting!
