What has AMT done for us?
By amtadmin • Jul 8th, 2010 • Category: NewsAction for Market Towns works hard throughout the year to provide support for towns throughout the country. Here are just some of the things AMT achieved in the past year:
- 140 market town representatives attended AMT’s Towns Alive Networking events in 2009/10, benefitting from the sharing of experience and ideas.
- 88 towns show cased their projects by entering the 2009 market town awards – and a similar number have entered in 2010.
- 43 people from 31 different community organisations attended AMT Academy Training, helping to increase the capacity and sustainability of their organisations.
- AMT provided policy information via our E Strategy Bulletin to more than 100 strategic partners and other policy contacts, helping to influence policy related to our market towns.
- AMT provided information on latest developments relating to small towns to all its members through its monthly e-newsletter Insight.
- 36 new case studies were added to the members database of good practice and research on a further 30 projects was completed and will be added in the near future. Case studies of the winning entries in the 2010 Market Town Awards will be added to the growing case studies database, providing information and inspiration to members.
- Five towns benefited from AMT’s Exchange Programme, helping them learn from the experience of other towns and start their own similar projects, ranging from developing local food projects and town loyalty schemes to becoming an IT town. Click here for more information on the exchange grant.
- 87 market town organisations became new AMT members in 2009/10 greatly increasing the potential for networking and shared learning.
- Over 200 delegates attended the Action for Market Towns Convention in Melton Mowbray in October 2009 – THE towns event of the year.
