Promoting vibrant and viable small towns

Funder Enlightening

By • Feb 26th, 2009 • Category: Uncategorized

This programme, which was piloted in the East of England, is the first Market Towns Academy programme of support and training to help Market Town Partnerships (MTPs) and Town Councils access funding and become equipped to deal with current economic and political change.

Businesses are closing, the housing market has slowed, some sub regions are moving to unitary authorities, regional spending budgets have been cut and the region is implementing an ambitious growth strategy.

The Funder Enlightening Programme will help MTPs plan and fund social, economic and environmental activities; empowering them to improve the standard of living for local people, visitors and businesses and make the changes that will increase their own self-reliance and sustainability.

The programme has been funded by The Big Lottery, through Action for Market Towns’ Towns Alive Programme, the County Councils of Bedfordshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex, the District councils of Fenland, East Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire and The East of England Development Agency. It is delivered by Action for Market Towns.
