Many local groups are finding that insurance cover is getting harder to obtain at any price as some companies restrict their activity.

Minimum premiums are often £250 or more. There is also concern that Community Partnerships either haven’t thought about insurance or believe their local authority covers them.

We have had a number of insurance enquiries from members recently, which caused us to look at the whole question. The results are disturbing. As more and more groups are set up at arms length from the local authority, independent insurance is a must.

As a result AMT has negotiated a comprehensive “All Risks” package exclusively for members with Zurich Municipal Insurance:

• Contents of Business Premises up to £5,000
• Employers Liability up to £10,000,000
• Public Liability up to £5,000,000

Public Liability cover is crucial. If a volunteer is working for the group, such as handing out questionnaires, then insurance cover is essential. You just never know.   For an extra £78.75 (+5%IPT) you can take out extra £5m public liability insurance to combine with the existing £5m, to give your organisation a total £10m public liability insurance for the year!

Conscious of financial constraints facing many groups, we approached Zurich about putting an affordable scheme together, and are pleased to be able to offer a straightforward yet comprehensive insurance package for all AMT members.

  which cover commercial legal advice, tax advice, business assistance and employee or volunteer counselling.

AMT will administer the collection of premiums, which includes a £30 admin fee to AMT.

The premium consists of:

• Zurich Insurance Premium £150 (including Insurance Premium Tax)
• AMT Set Up Cost £30.00
• TOTAL PAYABLE £180.00

This insurance is only available to AMT members.

This is an excellent service to members and in itself may make membership of AMT financially worthwhile on its own!
